Aims of Syllabus

The Primary Mathematics Syllabus aims to enable all students to:

• acquire mathematical concepts and skills for everyday use and continuous learning in mathematics;
• develop thinking, reasoning, communication, application and metacognitive skills through a mathematical approach to problem-solving; and
• build confidence and foster interest in mathematics

What is covered in this lesson?

In this lesson, we will only focus on 4 concepts:

1. Grouping involving quantities and values.
2. Grouping, ignore remainder.
3. Quantity and value with difference.

These two concepts can be applied to many topics and incorporated with other concepts. Thus it is good for our students to have a strong grasp of these concepts early in the year.
