Aims of Syllabus

The Primary Mathematics Syllabus aims to enable all students to:

  • acquire mathematical concepts and skills for everyday use and continuous learning in mathematics;
  • develop thinking, reasoning, communication, application and metacognitive skills through a mathematical approach to problem-solving; and
  • build confidence and foster interest in mathematics

What is covered in this lesson?

This lesson covers problem sums involving the topic of Measurement. This consists of the following concepts:

  • Work Backwards – Work Backwards to Find Value of Units
  • Find Change – Given Group at First, Given Group in the End
  • Transferring Difference – Small Group Transfer in Quantity to Big Group
  • Transferring Difference – Big Group Transfer in Units to Small Group
