Aims of Syllabus

The Primary Mathematics Syllabus aims to enable all students to:

• acquire mathematical concepts and skills for everyday use and continuous learning in mathematics;
• develop thinking, reasoning, communication, application and metacognitive skills through a mathematical approach to problem-solving; and
• build confidence and foster interest in mathematics

What is covered in this lesson?

The concepts covered in this lesson are:

1) Part and whole

2) Ordinal numbers

Part and whole will be a familiar concept to the children as it had been taught in Primary 1 but with smaller numbers and fewer steps. Ordinal numbers may be new to some.
