Learning heuristic problem sums involving “before”, “change” and “after” systematically.
When reading such problem sums, the student will need to identify the 3 stages and understand which of the 3 stages the Q is asking for. Knowing which stage the Q is asking for, will help the student apply the correct number statements.
This is a better way to approach a problem sum than hard coding key words eg “more” = plus or “less” = minus.
